Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo is the drama equivalent of a warm meal. A college weightlifter who's strong everywhere except matters of the heart, a cocky swimmer who becomes her loudest cheerleader — nothing about the setup is grand, and that's exactly its charm. What I loved most is that the romance never asks the heroine to shrink. Bok-joo eats a lot, lifts heavy, laughs loudly, and the show treats all of it as lovable rather than something to fix. The 'swag' couple's bickering-to-besties-to-more arc is one of the most naturally built romances I've seen in a campus drama. It flew under the radar when it aired, and it's not the flashiest title on anyone's list. But whenever someone asks me for a comfort watch that will simply make them feel better about life, this is one of the first names out of my mouth. Some shows you admire; this one you just hug.
