The three keywords for changes in Korean households are: single-person households, the elderly, and women. Among these, the issue of single-person households is by far the biggest topic. In 2021, South Korea's population decreased by 91,065 people compared to the previous year, marking its first negative growth (-0.18%). Natural population decline has begun, with the number of deaths exceeding the number of births. However, the total number of households is expected to increase until 2039. Why are household numbers increasing while the population is decreasing? And what should we prepare for in response? This documentary begins with these questions and seeks to explore the answers. Through case studies of single-person households cultivating their lives in various ways, it explores not only how to eat well and live well alone, but also analyzes the housing policies essential for the growing demand from single-person households, highlighting the importance of housing policies for single-person households and suggesting future directions.
