The Hanaone, an office for supporting the settlement of North Korean defectors, observes the efforts of defectors in their 20s and 30s from North Hamgyong Province to adapt to a new environment, whether in church life, university life, TV appearances, or overseas internships. It also lends an ear to the stories of defectors fighting for human rights in North Korea and becoming accustomed to South Korean capitalism, as well as those who speak of the dark side of capitalist life. Encounters with them provide an opportunity to gain a broader perspective on North Korea and its defectors, and to reflect on the society in which we live.
