Fired from his job, the protagonist returns home forlornly. The wife he meets in front of his house pays no mind to her husband, instead berating him and comparing him to the boss simply because he failed to bring blood. With a heavy heart, the protagonist drinks at a street stall. Just then, friends enter the stall, and the protagonist, surprised by their changed appearance, asks them what happened. The friends, who stole blood from the boss's house, tempt the protagonist to go steal blood with them, but the protagonist, lacking courage, refuses. Upon returning home, the protagonist reflects on his state with anguish and makes a final choice as a solution to change his life.
