In 2005, Asia's only Carthusian cloistered monastery was established in Sangju, Gyeongbuk Province, South Korea, following the will of Pope John Paul II. Fifteen years later, the lives of 11 Carthusian monks of various nationalities, including Korean, French, German, and Spanish, are revealed for the first time. Their daily lives, living a life of silence, solitude, and chosen poverty according to the strict Carthusian statutes, amidst the beautiful scenery of spring, summer, autumn, and winter. What are they living for? These individuals, who gaze only at the cross in their one-pyeong solitary cells, furthest from the world.
