The movie tells the story of comfort women we didn't know about, not the Japanese military comfort women that come to mind when we think of 'comfort women'. It tells how the structure where the state controls and exploits women's bodies did not stop at the Japanese military comfort women system, but became established in Korean society, leading to unequal outcomes.
