In the period from after the Liberation to around the armistice, over a million civilians were victimized. Retaliatory massacres by local left-wing and right-wing forces also occurred, but many victims were massacred by bombings from South Korean military and police forces, right-wing organizations, and the US military. Among them are members of the People's Protection League, who were detained and massacred as part of preemptive arrests at the beginning of the Korean War. The majority of them were farmers, people unrelated to political ideology. This is the story of hundreds of thousands of people who were innocently sacrificed, without even being able to stand trial due to the state's ideological criteria, with no direct connection to the war.
