January 4, 1951. Ahn Sang-han and Ju Dong-in take on the mission to transport 20 million won belonging to smuggler Noh Sang-chul to Busan, and they decide to seize the money. However, Dong-in, who went to pick up his family, goes missing. For the next five years, Sang-han, left alone, takes care of Dong-in's wife and children while greatly expanding his furniture business with that money. Meanwhile, love blossoms between Ji Eun-kyung, Dong-in's wife, and Sang-han. Despite guilt towards Dong-in and opposition from his brother Sang-hoe and father, they get married. Time passes, Dong-in's son and daughter, Young-dal and Young-won, grow up, and Sang-han and Eun-kyung also have a son.
