Twenty-five years after the Imjin War, the commander of the first division, So Seo Haeng Jang, mobilizes an army of 200,000 men and occupies Pyongyang. Gye Wol Hyang and Chae Ran, two famous courtesans of Pyongyang, attempt to flee the city. Chae Ran is raped and murdered by Japanese soldiers. To defend herself, Wol Hyang kills a soldier with a dagger and is then taken to the camp of So Seo, the commander of the Japanese occupation of Pyongyang. She submits to him, but remembering the words of her lover, officer Kim Gyeong Seo, she decides to kill So Seo. Meanwhile, Kim Gyeong Seo gathers his scattered troops and waits for an opportunity to retake Pyongyang. Finally, Gyeong Seo and Wol Hyang kill So Seo, but Wol Hyang, gravely wounded, commits suicide to allow Gyeong Seo to escape.
