Lee So-jung is a woman who has lived with all her might to treat her husband's illness and provide for her family's livelihood. She struggles for her husband's treatment costs and her family's survival, eventually resorting to selling her body. As she feels strange men stir upon her, she sheds tears of guilt towards her husband and for her own powerlessness, but she lives with a sliver of hope upon seeing the money the men leave behind. However, even this small hope is shattered by a police raid. Dae-cheol, who pulled So-jung out of the police raid to collect the borrowed money, threatens her, stating that if she doesn't hand over the house deed in lieu of the borrowed money, not only she but her entire family will be punished. Sensing she can no longer escape Dae-cheol's clutches, So-jung promises to persuade her husband to give her the house deed by the next morning and returns to her family. On her way home, So-jung remembers that today is her daughter Hyo-shim's birthday. Though she cannot prepare a birthday feast, she decides to at least give her daughter a full meal.
