Deok-tae meets a man working at a cabaret and saves Director Min from thugs, landing himself a job. After his parents' death, he lives with his sister, Ok-ju, who works as a seamstress. He saves Young-ah from harassment in a park, and after they meet again, they fall in love. Ok-ju was dating Director Min, but when she became pregnant, he forced her to have an abortion, leading to their breakup. Seeing his sister's suffering, Deok-tae decides to take revenge by seducing the director's sister, Young-ah. Although he loves her, he treats her cruelly for the sake of his revenge. When Young-ah becomes pregnant and tries to introduce him to her brother, Deok-tae reveals the truth about how Director Min abandoned his sister. Devastated, Young-ah runs away, and Director Min hires thugs to deal with Deok-tae. When Deok-tae tries to reconcile with Min, the thugs attack. Director Min dies while trying to protect Deok-tae. Before dying, he asks Deok-tae to apologize to Ok-ju and to live happily with Young-ah.
