The modern-day versions of Heung-bu, Nol-bu, and Shim-cheong still exist. Heung-bu, a wealthy son from the prestigious Gangnam district, never lacked anything. However, his seemingly smooth life changed completely after his father's death. While he was serving in the military, his stepbrother Nol-bu, who had always seen him as a thorn in his side, seized all of his father's assets and kicked Heung-bu out upon his return. To make matters worse, his fiancée Shim-cheong, with whom he had promised to spend his life, betrayed him. Overwhelmed by misfortune, Heung-bu quickly gave up. Without even having time to process the pain, he accepted reality and scraped by working as a taxi driver. He later discovered that Shim-cheong, indebted to Nol-bu for her father's medical bills, was forced to work at the 'Indangsu' bar run by Nol-bu. Knowing Nol-bu's wickedness all too well, Heung-bu vowed to take revenge when he saw that he was even exploiting Shim-cheong.
