The last potter of the Joseon Dynasty, the old man Lee, cannot light his kiln after the Japanese rule due to the influx of glassware. Pottery is no longer a daily necessity for the people. Furthermore, his daughter, Bun Rye, leaves for Gyeongseong in search of work. However, Takayama, who has a special interest in Joseon porcelain, makes the old man Lee relight the kiln, but soon stops him. Because if perfect Joseon porcelain were recreated, the rarity value of his own collection would decrease, and he disliked the idea of Korean ceramic technology, superior to Japan's, being revealed. Therefore, he tries to bribe Chang Gil to become an accomplice in the theft of Joseon porcelain. Chang Gil, needing money to get Bun Rye, who has become a Japanese geisha, out, begins the theft. Meanwhile, Takayama attempts to seize the iron-wire-decorated porcelain that Chang Gil and Bun Rye possess, but Chang Gil, regretting selling his national soul, resists temptation. Takayama is arrested for receiving stolen goods, tortured, and gives up on the iron-wire-decorated porcelain. However, Bun Rye persuades the police chief to buy the iron-wire-decorated porcelain, places it before the old man Lee's altar, and then leaves.
