Bong Sik, a beekeeper who collects honey, accidentally meets Seol Hwa, a shaman, and her daughter Dal I, while settling in Sari Teo to practice beekeeping. The shaman Seol Hwa gives Bong Sik a meaningful look, warning him that misfortune will befall him if he doesn't perform a purification ritual. However, Bong Sik, who has feelings for Dal I, ignores Seol Hwa's advice. Suddenly, all the bees die, prompting Bong Sik to seek out Seol Hwa. He eventually gets seduced by Seol Hwa, and Dal I, blinded by jealousy, also openly enters into a relationship with Bong Sik. Tormented between the two women, Bong Sik finally decides to leave to collect honey elsewhere, and Dal I follows him despite Seol Hwa's opposition. However, the shrine suddenly catches fire and Seol Hwa dies. Following this, Dal I returns and transforms into a perfect shaman. Bong Sik, meanwhile, sets off alone.
