Ok-su, a maiden from Hwajon village, is chosen to be the fairy who welcomes the dragon god on the night of the dragon god ceremony. That night, she meets Mi-reuk, a village youth, in a cave and promises him her future. After being chosen as the fairy, Ok-su becomes the object of attention in Hwajon village. Ji-sang, a young man, secretly loves her. Meanwhile, Sa-wol, Ji-sang's sister, likes Mi-reuk, and Geum-soon, Mi-reuk's sister, harbors tender feelings for Ji-sang, creating an ironic situation. When Han-chu, a widower living in town, tries to buy the favor of Ok-su's father with a large sum of money, Mi-reuk, enraged, fights Han-chu and injures him. Convinced of Han-chu's death, Mi-reuk and Ok-su leave Hwajon village and wander in foreign lands. However, Mi-reuk, who trembles with fear as the guilt of murder turns into jealous paranoia, is visited by Ji-sang one day. All misunderstandings are resolved, and finally, the Mi-reuk couple returns to their hometown.
