Separated from his parents in Jeju during his childhood, Sungmo receives care from his neighbors while simultaneously enduring abuse. He eventually leaves home and reunites with his parents in Seoul with the help of his friends, but conflicts with his stepmother begin, and he is forced to drop out of school. At 19 years old, Sungmo sets out to find his biological mother, who left home when he was 4.
