Mr. Lee Seong-yeol wants to pass down the ancestral geomungo to his son Lee Cheong, but Lee Cheong shows no interest in the old instrument, leading to conflict between father and son. Lee Cheong secretly sells the geomungo to enter university. At university, he gets a girlfriend named Yeong-ju and goes abroad to study, dreaming of becoming a doctor in engineering. Yeong-ju, upon entrusting their son Hun to his grandfather, is moved and decides to pass down the geomungo to Hun. Lee Cheong realizes the Korean spirit in America and comes to understand his father. Upon returning home, Lee Cheong searches for the geomungo but learns that a cultured businessman returned it to his father.
