Huang Bo, the wealthy landlord of the ginseng village, after his wife's death, tries to have a child by meeting with village women, but without success. He tries to win his mother's favor to marry the healthy Da Lai as a second wife, but Da Lai loves Jun Gu. One day, when Jun Gu leaves the village to follow his sold lover, Da Lai marries Huang Bo. However, unable to forget the departed Jun Gu, she treats Huang Bo coldly, creating a rift between them.
