The Barefoot in Pyongyang (1980)

Kim Man-ho, the leading owner of a fabric store in Pyongyang, suffers a major blow due to the enactment of a new trade law by Japan. After much deliberation, Kim Man-ho meets Hwang Seok-du, known as 'Barefoot', and explains his situation, asking him to transport the fabrics. Barefoot transports the fabrics, evading the eyes of the Japanese collaborators. Barefoot enrolls in higher elementary school but is expelled due to Masayoshi, the head of the judo club, and then gets married. However, without even consummating the marriage, he flees to Manchuria after beating up Masayoshi, who had been tormenting him. There, Barefoot rescues Yeo-ok, who was in distress, but Yeo-ok flees, leaving behind a baby. Barefoot travels through Shanghai and Manchuria searching for the baby's mother and is shocked to see her descending from a carriage as the concubine of a Japanese magnate.
