Her father-in-law collapses from blood pressure due to his daughter-in-law's infidelity, and her husband relentlessly torments her. Jeong-ae leaves home, meets Gyeong-nam, spends a night at a mountain cabin, and promises to leave for Jeju. After parting and returning home, Jeong-ae bathes, sits in the room where her husband sleeps, takes medicine, and collapses.
