Jang Baek-su, who sold his farmland and studied diligently, graduated from university in Seoul, though not as a top student. After graduation, he enlisted in the army as an escape from society's cold reception. After his discharge, he applies to various companies but repeatedly fails, even being scammed, making him a job seeker for the third time. He wants to find a job to support his parents and marry Eun-sil, who lives in the next room, but it's not easy. One day, he meets Sook-hee, an ethereal woman with similar worries, and feels pity for her. However, he feels burdened by her unrealistic way of thinking and her free-spirited behavior. Furthermore, Director Yuk, who tries to seduce Eun-sil with money and power, is another concern for Jang Baek-su. Director Yuk even resorts to violence to make Baek-su give up on Eun-sil, but he fails due to Baek-su's unyielding courage.
