In the Joseon Dynasty, Hong Gildong, the illegitimate son of Minister of War Hong Panseo, is suddenly reprimanded by his father and kicked out of the house. Unbeknownst to him, Gildong encounters Cha Dol-ba-wi, who was robbing a nobleman's wallet. Impressed by Gildong's martial arts skills and character, Cha Dol-ba-wi volunteers to be his subordinate and informs him about the existence of 'Hwalbindang,' a group of righteous heroes. The two soon head to Danbalnyeong in the Geumgang Mountains, where Hwalbindang is located. On their way to the Geumgang Mountains, they meet Go-tan and she joins them. The person who appears before them is Baekun Dosa, one of the 'Eight Great Sages.' Baekun Dosa, who founded Hwalbindang and was confronting Golbandosa, had been waiting for these three people. The only way to defeat Golbandosa was for Gildong, Go-tan, and Cha Dol-ba-wi to gather their energy together. Thus, the three pure souls who gathered defeat Golbandosa.
