Reiko, who works part-time at a convenience store, meets a customer every day who buys lunch boxes and occasionally a Mont Blanc cake. One day, she saves him from being lynched by factory workers and takes him home. Afterward, his frozen heart melts from her kindness, and he makes a move on Reiko. They begin living together, and when Reiko learns he's a fugitive with a painful past, she shares her own story, growing closer to him. As they comfort each other through their pain, those chasing him arrive in the neighborhood. Not wanting to bring trouble to Reiko, the man leaves her without a word. Alone again, Reiko misses him, and he, unable to forget her, returns. The two finally embrace passionately and promise to spend their lives together.
