Sarah, who was adopted abroad at a very young age and is presumed to have been sent to an English-speaking country, encounters her maternal relatives in Korea for the first time. She cannot speak Korean. The story begins at the point where Sarah, living overseas but now in Korea, is confronted by the front of a car carrying her Korean relatives, as her own luggage and the unexpected baggage she's taken on in Korea intersect.
