The narrative follows the intertwined fates of Shin Jung-tae, a boy from Shinuiju in Joseon, and Deguchi Gaya, a Korean-Japanese woman. Meanwhile, Deguchi Tenkai, the leader of the Diet in Osaka, Japan, reveals his ambition to forcibly occupy Shanghai, a vital hub in China, starting from Shinuiju, in his pursuit of a highly respected position in Japan.
