In the Kazakh city of Almaty, apple statues are frequently seen. Yet, the apples themselves are rarely visible. Some people seem angry about this fact. The more you meet people trying to protect the apples, the more you hear about their individual stories and the political situation. Since gaining independence from the Soviet Union, the city continues to develop, people's demands become more complex, and the apples are disappearing. Gradually, you begin to question the desires surrounding Almaty.
