The Ritual for a Soldier (1969)

A soldier returns to the village carrying a coffin. He is accused of murder, and the people begin to judge his crime. The soldier's confessions follow one after another, and a woman appears to prove his innocence. According to the woman's testimony, the soldier's only crime is loving her. However, perhaps because love was born at the graveside, or perhaps because love already implies death, the god of Death comes and bestows death upon them. Not to be outdone, the god of Life also visits them and bestows life. The courtroom then turns into a free-for-all where man, woman, death, and life clash. The jurors begin to express their displeasure with this chaos, and the judge is also bewildered. Is the soldier guilty or innocent? And above all, who did the soldier kill?
