Great King Sejo (1970)

After deposing Danjong and murdering numerous loyal subjects to ascend the throne, Sejo regrets his past mistakes and converts to Buddhism. To pray for the souls of those who died by his hand, he founds the Wengaksa temple and holds memorial rites. Concurrently, he appeases the people's resentment with benevolent governance and revitalizes the stagnant Buddhism, receiving the people's praise within his first year of reign. However, as a human, Sejo struggles in torment and remorse over his past deeds until his final moments.
