Orphaned in childhood, Ju-sil marries a farmhand at her grandfather's orchard, but she already loves a village youth named Young-jae. Young-jae and the farmhand engage in a bloody battle, and both die. Left alone, Ju-sil walks sadly through the fields at sunset, carrying her grief.
