However, Suyang Daegun, Munjong's brother and Danjong's uncle, conspired with Jeong Inji, Shin Sukju, Choi Hang, and others to kill the high officials and pressure the young Danjong to ascend the throne. Led by Seong Sammun, the Jiphyeonjeon scholars and ministers, indignant at these events, attempted to kill Suyang and restore Danjong, but were discovered in advance and perished on the scaffold.
