Deuk-beom is imprisoned in place of his wife Bong-sook, who accidentally caused someone's death. Meanwhile, Bong-sook is raped and becomes pregnant by Hwang-ga, who has long coveted her. When Deuk-beom is released from prison after serving his sentence, Bong-sook falsely claims the illegitimate child she had is her daughter Mi-ok's and raises it as such. However, when Mi-ok falls in love with Chun-woo, Chun-woo declares he will raise the child as his own. Finally, Deuk-beom, upon learning the truth, sheds tears acknowledging his mistake, while Bong-sook, for the sake of Mi-ok and Chun-woo's relationship, reveals the truth to Chun-woo and blesses their union.
