During the reign of King Beopheung of Silla, when the populace responded to Ichadon's propagation of Buddhism, treacherous officials slandered him, claiming he was plotting a coup. Ichadon, brought before the king, prophesied that if his head were severed and red blood flowed, he had plotted a coup, but if white blood flowed, it would prove he had truly propagated Buddhism for the nation. When Ichadon's head was severed, white blood indeed flowed, and the king, moved by this event, made Buddhism the state religion and built a stone pagoda at Baekryul Temple to pray for his soul.
