"Sun-i" marries "Bong-gu" before she is fully a woman. She is entrusted to a healthy man without knowing what marriage means in life and with no knowledge of relationships between men and women. She grew up with a friend named "Bao", who was raised as a male under a widower and as a female under a widow, thus being in a neutralized state. She suffers from husband phobia, spending every night trying to avoid the night, and sometimes fleeing with Bao's help. Bong-gu suspects his wife and Bao, but knowing their innocence, he makes Bao leave the village. Sun-i, having lost her support after Bao's mother's union with her own father, sets fire to her husband's room to try and forget the fear of the night. Gazing at the burning fire, Sun-i feels the first signs of her womanhood. She has finally grown as a woman.
