Ji-hoon is a third-year university student and was a baseball star since high school as an athletic scholarship recipient. Ji-hoon has a close friend named Jun-ho. Ji-hoon coincidentally meets Yu-mi, a Korean literature major, and thanks to Jun-ho's wit and humor, the two quickly become close. Ji-hoon gets into trouble with Coach Baek, who over-trains him, quits the baseball team, and wanders aimlessly. He coincidentally reconnects with a middle school friend nicknamed "Broker" and spends time with him. However, Ji-hoon resists "Broker's" temptation and returns to campus. Ji-hoon rejoins the baseball team and promises marriage to Yu-mi. The "Broker" he had forgotten contacts him, offering to work together under good terms, but Ji-hoon and Jun-ho beat up his gang. In retaliation, "Broker" kidnaps Ji-hoon to an isolated place and beats him up. Ji-hoon escapes and wanders the night streets looking for Yu-mi.
