Around 1948, Han Feng and Zi Qing, spies for the Chinese Communist Party, love each other but cannot marry because the party does not permit it. One day, Zi Qing is kidnapped by the Kuomintang. To save her, Han Feng risks providing Communist Party information to the Kuomintang. After reuniting with Zi Qing, Han Feng decides to die with her and successfully escapes from Communist-controlled Shanghai.
