One day, university student Soo-hee is struck by a sudden tragedy. Having lost her father and brother in an accident, Soo-hee is left to bear the burden of her mother's hospital bills and her nephew's livelihood alone. Entering the workforce, Soo-hee endures all sorts of hardships and even experiences the betrayal of the man she loves. Her weary mind and body evoke a death wish, and she eventually attempts suicide, only to be saved by a stranger. Having survived, Soo-hee begins a life as a hostess through the woman who saved her. As she tries to live a good life, the deaths of her mother and younger brother strike her, plunging her into existential doubt.
