While undergoing cancer treatment secretly from her family during her hospital stay, Sang-eun hears news of her grandmother's passing. She attends the funeral but feels disillusioned seeing her relatives trying to grab the meager inheritance. There, she coincidentally meets her childhood friend Eun-gyu's uncle and learns that Eun-gyu is also hospitalized in the same hospital with terminal pancreatic cancer. Upon visiting Eun-gyu, Sang-eun sees Eun-gyu's mother and thinks that for someone, death can be a fierce desperation beyond sadness.
