This was the first Korean drama that kept me up all night back in high school. Cold Baek Seung-jo, Oh Ha-ni falling and getting back up while chasing him, and living under the same roof due to circumstances. Back then, it felt so funny, and I would get butterflies every time Baek Seung-jo softened up even a little. Jung So-min was truly adorable, and Kim Hyun-joong was perfect for a guy who only speaks when necessary. It’s no wonder this drama blew up everywhere, including here, even though its ratings in Korea were low. But I rewatched it this year, and it feels completely different. Oh Ha-ni keeps chasing, Baek Seung-jo keeps being indifferent, and the drama frames that as romantic. I just felt exhausted. There isn't a single episode where Oh Ha-ni is given space to grow as her own person. She is written as clumsy from start to finish, as if those flaws are cute rather than something that needs to be addressed. The latter half also runs out of story; events are just lined up one after another without any driving force. Lee Tae-sung’s portrayal of Bong Joon-gu still makes me laugh—that’s the one thing I’m holding onto. Other than that, this drama is better left as a memory than watched again.
